Improving Mobile IP Performance Through Priority Scheduling
نویسنده
چکیده
The increasing number of portable computers, combined with the growth of wireless services, makes supporting Internet mobility important. Since a mobile node always changes its point of attachment to the Internet, it may cross a cell boundary during data transmission process. Packets sequence disruption during handover procedure may result in decreasing network performance especially in higher layers protocols. In this paper we investigate the behavior of Mobile IP protocol in presence of route optimization procedure. We discuss the impact of handover process on packets routed from old Foreign Agent to new Foreign Agent after handover and show that using priority scheduling for packets received from the Home Agent and queued at the old Foreign Agent’s buffer after handover can reduce the number of disordered packets received at the new Foreign Agent after handover.

Simulation Study over IP Based GSM Backbone
This paper focuses on the questions of the evolution of mobile communication. Improving GSM networks is a key step in the development towards the 3rd generation of mobile communication systems. In the current article implementation possibilities of IP in the GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) backbone are investigated. Our goal is to justify the theory; applying absolute priority sche...
متن کاملUtility-based Priority Downlink Scheduling for Multimedia Streams over LTE Networks
Abstract—With the mobile networks migrating towards LTE-Advanced and all-IP networks, people expect to connect to the Internet anytime, anywhere and from any IP-connected device. Moreover, nowadays people tend to spend much of their time consuming multimedia content from various devices with heterogeneous characteristics (e.g., TV screen, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.). In order to support...
متن کاملMulticlass G/M/1 queueing system with self-similar input and non-preemptive priority
In order to deliver innovative and cost-effective IP multimedia applications over mobile devices, there is a need to develop a unified service platform for the future mobile Internet referred as the Next Generation (NG) all-IP network. It is convincingly demonstrated by numerous recent studies that modern multimedia network traffic exhibits long-range dependence (LRD) and self-similarity. These...
متن کاملTCP Throughput and Buffer Management
There have been many debates about the feasibility of providing guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) when network traffic travels beyond the enterprise domain and into the vast unknown of the Internet. Many mechanisms have been proposed to bring QoS to TCP/IP and the Internet (RSVP, DiffServ, 802.1p). However, until these techniques and the equipment to support them become ubiquitous, most enter...
متن کاملQos Factors Based Node Selection and Scheduling Algorithm for Improving System Performance in Mobile Adhoc Networks
Mobile ad-hoc networks consist of a collection of mobile nodes without having a fixed communication. Due to the communication less network, there exist a ordinary link breakages which can leads to frequent path failures and finding the route. A mobile nodes can blindly rebroadcasts the first received route request packets unless it has a route to the destination and thus it causes the broadcast...
